South Beach Diet

This popular diet was created by Dr. Arthur Agatston, an established cardiologist in the mid-1990s. After selling millions of copies of his book, the South Beach Diet is conveniently available online and includes customized meal plans, recipes, online tools and support. Many celebrities swear by this diet. The diet was originally developed for overweight heart patients. The patients experienced better health and weight loss. The South Beach Diet has come to be one of the most popular diets of all time.

The South Beach Diet is truly a food lover's diet. It's about living well and loving what you eat. But it's also practical, flexible, easy, and effective. The diet is divided into three Phases. The first Phase lasts two weeks and is designed to eliminate cravings and kick-start weight loss. The second Phase is intended to produce long-term, steady weight loss. You'll stay in Phase 2 until you reach a healthy weight. Then you'll move to Phase 3, the lifestyle Phase. This is how you'll eat and live 365 days a year - and it's the key to maintaining your new, healthy weight.

Although the South Beach Diet may seem similar to the Atkins diet or the Zone diet, Dr Agatston stresses it is not a strictly low-carb diet. It's all about balancing the good carbs against the "bad" carbs. On South Beach you'll never feel restricted because you'll be able to enjoy a variety of foods including desserts.

Dr Arthur Agatston has developed the South Beach Diet. This diet was initially designed for controlling the cholesterol in heart patients. This was meant to help reduce the threats of cardiac problems in people who were prone to it. However, the diet that Dr Agatston had engineered for his heart patients turned out to be an especially effective weight loss program. Since Dr Arthur Agatston was practising in a clinic in Miami South Beach, this diet was baptised as the South Beach Diet.

South Beach Diet is really effective but it needs determination and perseverance too.
