The fat calories that can result from your diet are highly undesirable. The most ideal way to eliminate them from your diet is to keep a careful count of the calories that you consume. Keeping a food journal will also allow you to identify any negative or counterproductive eating habits you may have. In addition to keeping track of your daily caloric intake, you can always keep track of the calories that you burn during the week. If you consume more calories than your goal, it will be easy to know how many you should burn by the end of the week to balance things out

If you are on a diet then you have to take care of certain things which will help you to lose weight and maintain a good health, hear are sone of the steps that can help to maintain your diet.
1) Avoid all unhealthy foods such as snacks, fast foods, junk foods etc. which will help you to avoid high calories and fat related foods.
2) If you are on diet you need food which are high in nutrients and vitamins, so your diet should be high in fresh veggies and vitamins.
3) Di daily exercise which will help you to burn unwanted calories.
4) Drink lots of water it will help to breakdown your body fats.
5) Have sufficient sleep so you can speed up your body metabolism rate.

Make choice of salad in your food.
Choose a grilled chicken sandwich or regular burger and skip the cheese, bacon, and mayonnaise.
Forget the fries food and get a baked potato, green vegetable and fruit in your choice.

Substitute low fat dairy products in recipes. Use yoghurt or light sour cream instead of sour cream, and non-fat milk instead of regular milk. To be honest, the taste isn't as rich, but if you're watching calories and cholesterol, these substitutions make a substantial difference. For example, plain low fat yoghurt is 122 calories per cup and light sour cream about 360 calories, while the same amount of regular sour cream is 440 to 454 calories. Non-fat milk is 80 to 90 calories per 8-ounce glass, while whole milk is 150 to 160 calories.
