Vitamin C or L-ascorbic acid or L-ascorbate is an essential nutrient for humans and certain other animal species. In living organisms ascorbate acts as an antioxidant by protecting the body against oxidative stress. It is also a cofactor in at least eight enzymatic reactions including several collagen synthesis reactions that cause the most severe symptoms of scurvy when they are dysfunctional. In animals these reactions are especially important in wound-healing and in preventing bleeding from capillaries.

Camu Camu for vitamin C

Postby downsouth » Tue Nov 08, 2011 6:12 pm

We have been taking camu camu twice daily for vitamin C, the last two years. Its the worlds most potent form of vitamin C, coming from various parts of the amazon. We've noticed many improvements while taking this product. Most notably, we have been cold and flu free for two years. We learned that synthetic vit c is really not even worth taking in comparison to Camu Camu. The most affordable quality brand we could find in Canada, comes from a company called Glassfrog Organics. I can't remember their website right now, but they have a quality product for a good price. We also tried the Aecerola juice, but it gave me heartburn. Sometimes we take camu with golden berries, which seems to be a very powerful combo... ------

Ascorbic acid and citric are normally considered the same. They may have nearly the same effect, but I never buy ascorbic acid because most of it is made in China, which I never trust. This is because it is cheaper, but cheap things are also the lowest quality, and people who do the jobs there are treated like slaves.

It has not been an easy choice for me. For a long time I remained aloof to the benefits of any of the dietary supplements. Maybe I took things for granted that time. Soon enough frequent problems of health necessitated them in my life. As I mentioned when the time came to choose the best I got perplexed since the varieties were just too many. The dietitian has recommended me the needful but I am intolerant to some of those substances. Recently I heard krill are by far the best minus any side effects. Do you suggest I try them for the overall goodness of my health! Since they are rich in the vital ingredient for good health results should be good for those who try them. Suggestions are welcome.

One common misconception regarding citric acid is that it's the same as vitamin C and can help strengthen your immune system and help you absorb iron from your food. While these statements are both true of vitamin C -- also called ascorbic acid -- they're not true of citric acid. In fact, there's no evidence to suggest that you need citric acid as a component of your diet in order to maintain normal cellular function.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin, otherwise known as ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is responsible for many functions in our body. Also, Vitamin C is an antioxidant and can protect our body from free radicals, which may cause heart disease and cancer. We should be responsible in our body, eat the right food and fruits that gives nutrients to our body.
